January saw us welcome a new full-time member to the Glass Eye team. Joseph Sciberras Margrie joins us as part of the Tech City Stars apprenticeship programme, following a meeting with Future Unltd CEO Simon Bozzoli and our subsequent participation in their December 2014 ‘reboot camp’.
Tech City Stars describes itself as ‘a structured process that helps businesses in the tech sector to connect with young Londoners’. When we took the decision to headquarter Glass Eye in Shoreditch back in 2010 our hope was to create a skills-base drawing from a global pool of developers and creatives working alongside hand-picked local talent.
Recruiting Joseph is another important step in realising these plans, and hopefully not the last. He brings an infectious enthusiasm for film, with the uncommon qualification of going to the cinema more often than we do. He’s taking up a number of roles around the place, including – assuming he completes the more technical modules of his apprenticeship – our one-man I.T. department.
