Five friends. Twelve pubs. One goal: reach the fabled pub, The World’s End, before closing time… or the end of the world!
July sees the release of THE WORLD’S END, as Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost call last orders on the ‘Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy’, of which SHAUN OF THE DEAD and HOT FUZZ form the other comically cadaver-filled parts. This latest outing sees a group of friends reattempting an epic pub crawl during an alien invasion, and we were lucky enough to get an invitation to tag along.
So it is that we have proudly unleashed ‘THE WORLD’S END Pub Sign Maker’, a deceptively simple web app using pioneering artificial intelligence (well, multiple choice questions) to give you your very own personalised pub sign. It runs just as well through a desktop browser, mobile or tablet device or Facebook app. Rather than rattle on about how great it is, we’ve decided to let the signs do the talking, doubling up as a chance to introduce you to the elite team behind the app itself.
With over 100k pub names generated on the day of launch for over 10k unique visitors, average visit duration was more than ten minutes. As the word spread fast on Twitter and Facebook a staggering 45% of the traffic originated from smartphones and tablets, emphasising just how quickly mobile is eating the web, especially when it comes to this kind of owned/earned media initiative. Suffice to say this is the first site we’ve ever built that saw less than 2% of traffic via Internet Explorer!
